When I bought my airplane, I had to totally re-organize the manuals. It was a mess! I have a special bag that houses all the logs. Within the bag, I have a ziplock bag full of old logbooks for Airframe, Propeller, Engine, Avionics, etc. I currently leave loose, the small current logbooks for Engine, Propeller, Avionics and Aircraft.

Here's where I need suggestions ... I have a 3" 3-ring binder that houses:

  • - Pending Inspections
  • - VOR Equipment Check Log
  • - V-Speeds
  • - Airplane Flight Manual
  • - Weight and Balance
  • - Airplane Supplemental Flight Manual - Garmin 430 Transceiver
  • - GPS National Database Update Log
  • - Major Repair & Alteration (Airframe, Powerplant, Propeller or Appliance)
  • - STC's
  • - Repairs as of Feb 2013 (when I purchased the airplane
  • - AD's

So when I got my airplane back from its Annual, it was suggested that I follow the following acronym "AVIATE" for organizational purposes of the 3-ring binder that contains my maintenance records:

  • - Airworthiness
  • - VOR
  • - 100 hr inspect
  • - Altimeter
  • - Transponder
  • - ELT

How do you recommend I organize the 3 ring binder? What do you do?

Thanks!
