So my struts are too corroded to be used again. I need to replace them. Problem is they are no longer produced and very rare for my particular bird.

So I will probably go the owner produced part route. This logically leads to my next question: Of what kind of steel are strut tubes made? What do I tell the machine shop to use?

Is this much like bolts which have a "grade"? If so of what "grade" steel must the struts be produced?

Regards
Russ
