I am in the market to purchase an airplane to finish my Jedi training - ah, er - my commercial & Instrument ratings.:???:
My mission is somewhat specific. Since I already have my complex/high performance endorsement, I have no need for that kind of expensive airplane until its commercial checkride time - at which point, I can rent something for the week.
In the meantime, I want a plane that is affordable on gas as I go from 230 hrs to 500 hrs, and that is also suitable for instrument practice & dual instruction.
I see a lot of nice, affordable, seemingly economical Cherokee 140s on the market. Big price difference between them and Cherokee 180s and Warriors. But does the 140 pack enough punch in the Southeast Arizona high desert area (Tucson/Sierra Vista are 2,400 ft to 4,600 ft elevations) to meet instrument flight climb performance? Or am I barking up the wrong Cherokee?
