Just a heads up for everyone. I thought a long time before posting this (to allow a "cool down" period), but feel it's good to let others know about experiences with suppliers/repair shops, just as I would like to know.

I used Aerospace Components and Instruments, LLC in Siloam, AR for a precessing DG overhaul. They are a certified shop.

Long story, but after 1st repair, had A&P install and we tested: still precessing, maybe even worse. I called, they questioned the installation, but agreed to "take a look" if i returned. Even paid 1 way of the return shipping. After this "2nd look" they returned it with another release sheet, and the DG was worse. I had put an indication on the DG to see if they opened it before I returned and they had not. I assume they re-tested and didn;t just turn it around and ship it back, but they did not open it up. I contacted them about it again, and they told me there must be something else wrong with vacuum system, etc. I discussed with A&P and he assured me no vacuum issue. Just to be sure I asked him to replace hoses to the DG, he tried to tell me it was a waste of time..... After he changed them, the DG was still not functioning. I finally broke down and bought another DG. We installed it, and works perfectly.

I contacted Aerospace Instruments and Components, LLC and informed them of what happened, and what I had done. They have a 1 year warranty on repairs. I asked if he would simply refund the $300 overhaul cost since he had 2 opportunities and neither were successful. He told me ok, and so i waited a few weeks and sent a reminder e-mail. No response. I called numerous times, no answer, and no return call from messages. After a few more weeks, I had a "friend" from another state call immediately after I left another message, and lo and behold he picked up the phone and cheerfully said "Aerospace Instruments and Components, how can I help you? Since we were on a 3 way call, I spoke up, told him who I was, and then asked where the refund was and why he was avoiding me. He said he needed paperwork/receipts showing that I have purchased and installed a new DG. Fair enough, I faxed the paperwork and the log entry of ALL of the DG installations for his repair (twice) and the new DG. He then asked me to return the DG and he would open it and perform another Overhaul.

At this point, I just told him he had two opportunities already to perform an Overhaul, or tell me it was not possible. I also informed him that the Pilot community is a small and tight nit one, and that word of mouth will certainly be a factor for his business

In any event, I would highly NOT recommend Aerospace Instruments and Components, LLC in Siloam AR for any type of instrument work.

Sorry this is so long, but wanted to give my two cents on this service provider.

Thanks!
