So several days ago I asked for some information about flying into Ryan Field to go see my Mother in Law, who will be having back surgery next week and how to get a car to drive from Tucson to Green Valley where they live...
So one of our own stepped up in a big way, Jerry of Green Valley helped us out, in a way that was far and beyond what I was thinking of. And this is why Pilots are the Best People....
Thanks again Jerry, you provided the means to go see Mom, and get back in time to fly home... 7 hours total flying today, and we landed just after sunset back in El Monte, PERFECT!...
Flying out in the morning was nice, mostly smooth, 9500' and could see the world, 3 hours at 135 to 145 knots ground speed... 8.8 gal per hour overall.... 4 hours home at 95 to 105 knots... a little head wind you say!.. 10,500 and mostly smooth flying.. would have been faster lower for I like smooth and cooler. I did not fill up the plane yet but I think there may be 10 to 14 gal left.. not much!
So again, thanks Jerry, for helping out, and to all the other Pilots that help out, teach, hear out a story and put up with us that are still working on getting it...
And yes, if anyone asks, I do know how to do a downwind entry to a right hand pattern for 24R.... after realizing just where 24R was!... Oh the joys of "being there"...
