I have a 1961 PA-28 Cherokee 160.
During a flight this morning this scenario went down, I was not in the plane but a very experience pilot was:
The fuel pump was left on and they went through some slow flight turns and then some 45 degree banks and back into slow flight. Afterward, they noticed that they had forgotten to cut the fuel pump off after take off.
They cut the fuel pump off at that point and the engine sputtered. They immediately turned the pump back on and the engine returned to normal.
They headed back to airport, once entering at downwind with some extra height he turned the fuel pump off again with no loss in fuel pressure or sputtering.
Could banking and slow flight with the fuel pump on cause this? Or should I be looking for a bigger problem?
