I do not and have never had a shimmy in this aircraft. I had it on the jacks yesterday as the mechanic inspected the gear switches and see that the shimmy damper has more than 1/2" of freeplay in it so therefore most likely ineffective in doing it job. I am willing to replace it but $2800 from piper and even $1086 for a Lord seems crazy for this little shock. Anyone have any luck or experience with the STC for the shock repair from Aircraft Door Seals? Any other options but to pay? Is the shock actually suppose to have that play in it on this aircraft?
