I removed the analog temp probe when I installed a new windshield ( mistake ) Since I had a EI- FP5L that would accommodate a digital OAT which I thought would be a more accurate OAT reading. I had the probe located in an inspection cover on the pilots side of the wing . I am getting very inaccurate readings , I see NO way that any engine exhaust is affecting the reading , It's off by 10 +/- just sitting on the ramp. EI normally has excellent service, but I got the "can’t be our probe" answer from them. I am ready to ditch the whole thing and go back to the analog gauge in the windshield .

Any success in using a digital OAT and where did you mount the probe ?
