I'm flying a new (to me) Cherokee 180C and having some weight and balance concerns. I've got a heavy friend and even with ballast, I'm having difficulty making the numbers work. It's very frustrating. I've looked around here and see that nose heavy CGs are common with this model.
I see people mention that they've found mistakes in the empty weight and balance numbers that have fixed some of the problem. I was ready to back through all the past WB revisions looking for mistakes. Unfortunately, the weight and balance revisions only go back a few years in this plane, so i can't check them all.
That leaves actually weighing the plane as the only option.
It's not actually my plane and I'm sure the owner won't want to go through the trouble if the current numbers are typical for this model. He'd be especially pissed if the CG turned out to be even further forward than the numbers say.
So my question is, for 180C owners/pilots what are your CG values? I guess empty weight numbers would be helpful too, but mostly I care about the CG?
