New airplane owner here (less than 1 year), so this may be completely normal, but I wanted to get the group's opinion. My 1971 Arrow went in for annual mid-March. It needed (there was a list that I haven't seen, but these are the big ticket items (In fact, I have seen the list, it was written on a yellow notepad and they offered to make a photo copy)) 2 cylinders sent out for leaky valves, and the gear power pack needs an overhaul. Apparently the cylinder shop (not my annual shop) is backed up, and my shop got a power pack in, but it was DOA, so they sent it back for another (I think. They're not communicating very well). My worry is, it's been 4 months and I haven't seen a quote yet (I've asked a few times). My shop is pretty understaffed apparently, but I tend to trust the folks working there. Question #1, is this an unreasonable amount of time to wait on parts? #2, Is it normal to not get at least a ballpark quote on paper after 4 months? #3. If worse comes to worse, should I try another shop? I imagine they'll still charge me for tearing the plane apart and putting it back together, so I feel like things would have to get pretty nuts before I consider that. Any thoughts?
