Locked in Cherokee

Door latch broke this week, locking me in my Cherokee. Just curious who else has had this happen. No one near would answer their phone, so I ended up taxing around until I saw someone on the field and then yelling at them to come open the outside lock. Turns out the door latch rod popped out of the latch. I bent the hook back at the end of the rod, but I assume it's weakened now and will probably happen again. Looking for feedback from anyone that has had this happen to them.
