I'm considering replacing the landing light on my 1974 PA28-140 with one of the LED bulbs.

I've read different reports on both the Whelen and the Teledyne Alphabeam that claim they are not drop in replacements that the cowl must be modified to accept them.

Can any other 140 owner, who has installed an LED landing light, confirm or deny if the bulb they used was a drop in or required cowl trimming.

Thanks.
