How much to paint an Archer?

I own a 1976 Archer II that has always been hangared and still has its original paint job. After 40 some years it's looking a bit worn. I requested a ballpark estimate from a paint shop in the Minneapolis/St Paul area that came back at around $27K. That seems excessive to me, but I have no prior experience with this.

What range should I expect for a complete strip & repaint of an Archer? I'm located in south central Wisconsin. Any shop recommendations in the upper midwest?
