Guys I need help here.

In another thread I saw a member posted pictures of his newly hydro-dipped panel plastics. They looked great.

Since I had just ordered all 6 new panel pieces, a new throttle quadrant, a new flap handle and a new fuel selector piece I decided to have them hydro-dipped in a carbon fiber pattern before installation.

Unfortunately when I gave the pieces to my mechanic (an AP & IA) he immediately took them over to the local FSDO for a decision on whether they could be installed. BTW he never mentioned that to me when we were discussing the hydro-dipping before I had it done.

The local FSDO said no. They said that since I had "modified" the parts they could no longer be installed on the plane (1977 Arrow III).

I can't afford to throw $1000 away like this. Any ideas? Any suggestions? Anything I can do?

Thanks,

Ron
