HAND PROPPING
If you are afraid – don’t do it
If you have not received instruction – don’t do it
If the ground is slippery – don’t do it
If you don’t have qualified help or if the tail is not tied down – don’t do it (I carry rope)
If your prop is not oriented to stop on compression at 10 o’clock – don’t do it

With proper precautions and recognition of danger (like a hot mag), hand propping is easy as pie. BTW, occasionally shut your engine down using the mag switch to confirm continuity of the P-leads.
