We train for soft field t/o and landings during Private Pilot Cert training. I was wondering how many of you have taken a Cherokee onto a dirty strip or grass field?

Looking into the future, as I gain experience doing longer and longer cross countries, I can already see the desire to get adventurous with some locations. I'd be interested in finding some fun places out west with dirt or grass (I'm in SoCal). I'm generally pretty cautious so want to get as much info about doing this before I would think about attempting it...

I've seen other planes with short takeoff and landing kits and all the taildraggers. But what's the realistic capability of the Cherokee 180 (Archer) in this regard?
