I recently purchased a 63 Cherokee 160 to finish my private pilot ticket in. It is a nice flying machine and I absolutely love the plane. I am hopefully going for my check ride in the next 2 weeks. I am looking for an economical way to upgrade the plane to IFR so that I can start my IFR cert in the spring. The airplane is equipped with everything I need except Pitot heat and wingtip strobes. I have a belly strobe, so I am hoping the power supply has extra outputs so that I can just add the wingtip strobes. Current avionics is a King kx-125 with built in CDI and a Mx-11 backup comm. My transponder was inspected and certified for IFR in August. I need some suggestions on how to add GS capability to the plane. I am deciding if an all in one WAS GPS will be in the future, but haven't decided if I want to put that much money in this plane or not yet. But basic IFR I want to do now. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
