Hey all

Last weekend I went to see my good buddy Don, and we did an oil change on my Comanche 180. I was running Phillips 20W50 because I was going north in wintertime. Now that it is summer in Florida, I swapped back to Phillips 100AW, the standard 50 weight.

So on the flight home from the oil change, I noticed that I was going about 5-8 kts slower than normal at 23 square. No it was not headwind, no I did not leave the gear down, no the mags are fine, no the fuel is fine. I ran several checks after I landed and I can find no apparent engine issues or some odd drag issue.

Today I flew an hour south and it was still a bit slower. On the way home it was a bit better, but still not as quick as it was. Could the 50 weight be so much thicker that it is slowing down the engine a bit and slightly reducing horsepower? Or am I just imagining things?
