My 3rd Class Medical expired on 8/2017. I have looked into BasicMed. I could not find a local doctor that would do the paper work. I ended up driving 2 hrs. to the nearest AME to get a new 3rd Class Medical certificate today. The doctor told me that most of his colleges will not fill out BasicMed papers because it implies responsibility & potential for a law suit. A Third Class Medical Certificate is provided by the FAA & the doctor cannot be sued. BasicMed is probably not going to work for me??
