I'm looking for pireps on two potential "low cost" ADS-B solutions. My aircraft does not have a WAAS GPS and my transponder is an old Narco AT50A.

Solution 1 is an integrated unit that includes a transponder and ADS-B Out transmitter in one unit that could be installed in my current transponder location, although new wiring would probably be required:

Solution 2 looks like the installation would be much simpler. It uses the existing transponder and a remotely-mounted unit. It "reads" the transponder code by means of a tap on the antenna cable

Solution 2

In both cases I would need to use a device like an IPad to read the ADS-B In data, but since I use a portable Android device for my GPS now that wouldn't be a problem.

Has anyone had either of these two installed? How well do they work? What were the installation costs?
