Being new to airplane ownership, my learning curve has been, and continues to be very steep. I have learned about CAR 3, and that my airplane was certificated under it, and I have just come across an Advisory Circular that I had not heard of before. AC 23-27 addresses parts and materials substitutions for vintage aircraft. Now, when I think of the term "vintage aircraft", I think of things like Curtiss Jennys and Piper Cubs. But, apparently, my 1966 -140 is vintage. And so reading the AC, it seems as though there is a lot of leeway WRT substituting parts. I'm posting the AC here for your review, and would be interested to start a discussion on this subject.
