I'm getting a better feel for my new (to me) Cherokee and I live in Alaska. I've got 8.50's on the mains and the stock 6.00 on the nose and would like to be able to take this plane into well-maintained gravel strips (Willow, Skwentna, Chena Hot Springs come to mind). Does anyone here have experience running the PA28's on gravel strips? Just looking for advice on whether or not it can be done with a somewhat freshly minted PPL (I'm at 100 hrs, mostly on 172's) without me needing to buy a new prop anytime soon!
I've got main gear pants but they are removed, and with the nose strut extended from my 300lb ass stepping down from the plane I've measured 14" of prop clearance (I'm thinking the front strut is pumped up). Paint is also pretty worn already so I don't care much about gravel chips to the flaps.
