As I've noted on a few other posts I'm in the process of cleaning up my interior on my 180 and I'm getting close to having all the plastics back in place.

One question I have is what are windows generally sealed with? The reason I ask is that my personal inspection shows a handful of different materials trying to do the same job. Apparently over time windows were replaced/removed/sealed/resealed/etc and no one used the same supplies twice.

The materials range from clear silicone / black tar looking substance / a thin felt strip / a thin foam(rubber) strip / and a combination of all the above (all on same window in some cases).

Just a simple visual scan with the metal brackets off shows that the windows are not sealed well at all in places. Although I'm in a hangar there was a time a few months ago that it slept outside and after a heavy rain my carpets were often wet.

Any advice or suggestions as to what to use to clean them up and reseal? I've got a friend that's an A&P and it'll be going to into annual in a couple weeks... So this would be good timing.
