I have been noting an increase in the number of 3D printed parts that I have seen in photos on this forum. I run a small company that supplies 3D parts for R&D, functional testing and final parts but had avoided printing any aviation parts due to issues of being non-compliant with FAA testing (burn and noxious fumes). While there is a plastic filament that is pre-FAA approved (Ultem) its cost is 3-4x the cost of ABS or PLA filament ($700/roll).

I'm interested in feedback from pilots, A&Ps and IAs about the use of 3D printed parts in their own planes.

I did print a landing gear flap handle as a demo for what could be reproduced for a client.
