I read a few posts recently where people are wondering what their plane's speed actually is now and maybe after alterations. I used several methods, but came across this spreadsheet a few years ago. Dirt easy to use if you have any form of GPS.

Pick an altitude and power setting
Fly 3 directions by the GPS track (not magnetic).
Record the GPS ground speed - not your Indicated Air Speed

Put in the 6 numbers (3 runs of track/speed) and voila - you get winds aloft and your true airspeed.

Then if you get interested, you can try different altitudes, power settings, etc.
