FInally, after being held hostage by Dillon Aviation in Greenville, NC for 6 months, I have my 180 C back home.
Lessons learned on that previous thread of mine. This guy actually told me he "hoped I lived long enough to see how good he is."
Well, I had to pay for a new annual, since the AC was declared unairworthy. The 200+ rivets he said I needed turned out to be about 10.
He put new oil in the engine after installing it, but when my AP/IA looked at it, it was greenish, and said there was water under one of the rocker box covers. I've never seen oil look like that. It almost looked like some storage liguid put in the engine.
New tires, rebuilt the brakes and master cylinders, rebuilt the struts, did the new Piper AD, and incidently, two AD's had not been complied with, so those had to be done.
Got the transponder checked, and a few thousand dollars later, I'm still going at it. Just glad to have her home.
Right now, I want to take some sheet metal, maybe 2417, and while I have the rear baggage compartment bulkhead off, I want to adhere that to some sheet metal to stiffen it up some. Mine was just 3 screws and some velcro holding it on, and I want it to be a little stronger. Any problems anyone see with the FAA by doing this?
I'm also putting on a new Rt. aileron, since the old one had a very small crack in the trailing edge, and it had been stopped drilled, so as I'm waiting on the stripper to work it's magic, I thought I'd ask you guys about this bulkhead situation. I've learned a lot from this site so far.
Next is an Aircraft Doorseal's glareshield and new carpet . Not looking forward to taking out the new windshield, but the previous owner just spray painted what looks like old glue. It's a mess, but I'll take it out, clean it, and instal the new glareshield.
Things are looking better.
I appreciate you guys.
