Lake County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Release

By Lt. Corey Paulich

On September 17, 2016 at approximately 1130 AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Office Central Dispatch received a report of a seaplane that had been participating in the Seaplane Splash-In taking place at the old Natural High School in Lakeport, had crashed in the water. Units from the Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit responded to the area locating a Widgeon Seaplane in the water approximately 500 yards offshore from Via Del Lago. The Marine units located the pilot and only passenger suffering from non-life threatening injuries. Both were transported to shore for treatment. The Sheriff’s Office is coordinating with FAA and NTSB who will be taking over the investigation of the crash.
