After a very enthusiastic Airventure, I am very happy to report that we are over the top! We have received enough pre-orders for the certification of the S-TEC 3100 DFCS in the PA-24 to proceed to the next step – getting the certification on the schedule. It was a pleasure to meet many of you at the show. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and thanks for all the enthusiasm!
We will now need to confirm and firm up at least 15 of the pre-orders. In the next few days, if you have submitted a pre-order, your dealer will be getting a 3100 configuration form from us. We use this form to ensure we correctly configure the 3100 for your aircraft. By filling out this form, it will also make your pre-order a firm order. Your dealer may ask for a deposit because if the order is cancelled after confirmation, there will be a 20% cancellation fee. If you have not yet submitted your pre-order it is not too late to get it in and take advantage of the special extended warranty offer!
The next scheduled opening for a certification project is in October - only a little over 6 weeks away! That would put STC completion early next year, with kits generally shipping about a month after that. The sooner we can get 15 confirmations, the more likely it is that the Comanche will get that October slot!
Lastly, we would like to use a PA-24-400 for the certification as this would cover all PA-24 models. If we cannot locate one, we can work with a -260 but the -400s would have to be added later.
Now is the perfect time to get your Purchase Order in before the special extended warranty offer (listed below) expires!

The most significant benefit to submitting a purchase order (early) is that we will extend the 2-year warranty to 3 years for all new parts from the factory (new installs and new controllers/servos). Also, we are offering a 2-year warranty on any currently installed S-TEC servos. No matter how old they are.
The extended warranty offer is only valid until we gain the STC. Once that occurs, the regular warranty period will be offered.
We already have commitments from the minimum number of interested owners to begin the process, however if you get your purchase order in before the STC is complete you will still get the benefits of the pre-order offer.

For the owners who currently have an S-TEC autopilot installed, the upgrade price will depend on the equipment already installed. The 3100 AP would be an outstanding bargain to get the benefits of a fully integrated digital autopilot, especially considering the additional safety features which it will bring. Upgrades start at $9,995 retail.
For the owners who currently do not have an S-TEC autopilot installed. The 2-axis S-TEC 3100 is $19,995 retail for a new digital flight control system, which includes altitude hold, auto trim and altitude preselect, as well as new features such as envelope protection and straight and level mode. The 3-axis version adds Yaw Damper and is $24,995 retail. You would need to talk to your dealer about installation time/price.
