Piper Nose Wheel Tow Bar Link??

Wondering if there's any solution/improvement to the tow bar link (part #4 in the picture below) being so short that when you use the tow bar and are not extra careful you can poke holes in the fiberglass wheel pants w/ the tow bar hooks. I just replaced the top piece of the wheel pants as it had a couple of holes from the tow bars and would love to avoid it from happening again. I purchased a different type of tow bar that avoids that BUT worried that about lineman at FBO who would use a standard Piper towbar.
