My 1979 PA32-300 has a note in the POH (section 2.27):

NOSE WHEEL FAIRING REMOVED

When the nose wheel fairing is removed, two nose wheel centering springs (part number 67168) must be installed.

It doesn't say anything about removing those springs when the fairing is installed, but I guess that's implied.

I have no problem complying with this instruction. But I wonder, does anyone know why these centering springs are needed?

And, do other Cherokees have these springs? Or is that just a PA-32 thing?

Just curious ...
