Not in the airplane, in the car.
I am a die hard Merc diesel driver, there's bound to be others on here I'm sure...
My current one is still a youngster, only 10 years old. In the 10 years I've only paid the dealer about 2700 dollars that was unexpected. Once for the GPS antenna dying (which they have to take the whole trunk apart to get at) and once for the key computer dying, which cost me about 2k.
Well, after all this time my daughter, while learning to drive with me playing CFI in the right seat ran it up on the curb in a parking lot and bottomed out the transmission case, and I had a leak show up in the rear seal between the engine and the transmission case. Another 2k, almost all of which was labor to drop the transmission to get at the gasket.
I decided that I'm going to get that last 2k back from them over time by not buying their tires anymore and switching to the way cheaper Pirelli alternatives.
Who else on here spews black smoke on the frightened people on the freeway behind them with an ancient diesel Mercedes?
