Not piper related, but my IA has a 2015 TTX coming in from the east coast with big dent in the top of the wing. The fuel gauge was reading full all the time so a mechanic thought the sender was stuck. He hit the top of the wing over the tank with a rubber mallet hard enough to put a 2" deep dent in it.
The shop insurance is paying for the repair. The plane has less that 100hr TT and the owner is PISSED. He bought it new in late 2015. He tried to get the insurance company to pay him the difference between a new plane and his plane so he could just buy one without damage history, but they wouldn't go for it.
Goes to show, just because the FAA gives a guy an A&P, doesn't mean he should be allowed near the tools.
