Just got my bird out of the shop for an avionics upgrade (installed the KT74 for ADSB out woot woot) and flew for half an hour. All was good except coming in on short final I got an EGT4 Bad Probe error on the JPI830.
My first thought was that the avionics tech did wire the 430W and JPI 830 together as part of the work he just finished, but everything looked ok for the first half hour or so before the error, right after coming out of the shop. If it's a wiring problem I maybe would expect it to manifest right away??
I asked him about it and he said it probably is the probe going bad. I started the plane again and taxi'd back to the hangar and the error was gone and EGT4 looked fine.
Is there anything else that could be happening to get this error (aside from an actual bad probe)?
Seems like I should get someone to remove and test the probe. Or is that like taking a hamster to the vet?
I am thinking it is perfectly safe to fly while I sort this out even if I get this error message again, right?
Here is the JPI data: You can see the last few minutes EGT4 flatlines...
