The Warrior is in for its first annual.
I've noticed the staining on the right wing for a while but haven't determined the source.
It is worse around the aft edges of the fuel tank:
The outboard highlighted area is shown here (fuel vent line):
When I took off this inspection plate, I noted a fairly strong gasoline odor:
Bad fuel vent lines leaking inside of the wing? The A&P IA that is doing the annual didn't seem very concerned about it, said it could go if we wanted or we could do the SB1006 stuff.
Follow-up questions:
1) I've done the spar inspection by the tanks for a pre-buy (not on this plane). We just drained the gas, removed the screws, and slid the tank out about 3-4 inches. That was enough to see everything we needed. Is there enough space to do the same thing to replace the fuel vent lines?
2) I'm getting low fuel pressure at altitude, but only when the fuel tanks are full AND the electric fuel pump is OFF. It looks to be about 0.5-1psi versus the usual 5psi when the tanks are not full. Would this be related to bad vent lines? If not, what could it be?
