...and you had an auxiliary, would you return to base or continue your flight.
(FYI: 98 Archer III)

I was flying the wife from KSCK to KMRY. Short flight, only about 50 minutes. Almost to top of climb and I lost my vacuum pump. I kicked on the auxiliary pump and returned to base, opting not to take the risk. (Nor the wrath of the wife had we gotten stuck overnight away from home.) Ended up driving instead.

Was I being over cautious? Would any of you continued the flight? Also, how much am I looking at for a new pump?
