So on Friday, I replaced the TC for the CHT on my plane,,, it has not worked since I picked up the plane, so finally have an idea how hot #3 is running. In looking at the spark plug, it is a fine wire, and looks to be in need of changing before too long.

I went for a 1/2 hour flight, climbing up to 8500 ft, and the CHT never went over 385 deg F. Over the San Gabriel mountains, making several passes back and forth, at WOT, was showing 2600 RPM, 128 kt on the GPS both ways, ( garmin Pilot app with a GDL39) and the airspeed above the true airspeed window, just below 140 MPH line... the temp was 60 deg. so I think the airspeed was 148 ish, but not sure I got the temp / alt setting in the window correct....

So, what does this all mean??.. I think it means that the plane was flying pretty fast, and it was handling smoothly.... was alone, with 27 gal fuel total as it took 23 to fill it up when I landed. It took several attempts to trim it out level, as it really liked to climb!.. was getting 1500 Fpm....

So now that I have an idea on CHT, and the EGT gage has no numbers on it, did not try to lean it on this flight but have in the past.... know that the motor is happy.

What do I need to do to find out how fast it really flys, what power is what RPM at 9500 / 10500 where I normally fly cross country, ( ok, on the 2 cross country flights I have made) What fuel burn to expect, and what other questions do I need to ask myself to I can learn more.....
