In our Arrow we have a yoke-mounted iPad running Garmin's Pilot app and wirelessly connected to a GDL 39 which is placed, with its integral antenna, on the right side of the glareshield. The setup works great for all sorts of situational awareness functionality as well as ADS-B In features. Our GDL 39 has the AHRS option (GDL 39 3D) which gives us attitude indication and excellent synthetic vision on the Pilot app. The problem is that proper AHRS functionality requires that the GDL 39 be securely attached to the airframe. Any movement in the unit relative to the airframe imparts errors. We tried using the Velcro tape supplied with he GDL, but it was a disaster. The adhesive used to attach the mating Velcro strips to the unit and to the glareshield can't survive the high temps found in that space on a sunny day. Right now we just have the unit sitting there unsecured. That works OK when there is no turbulence, but when it's very bumpy the GDL moves around enough to pretty much make the AHRS worthless.

I imagine the Stratus 2 has the same issue. Has anybody come up with a workable solution?
