Garmin 695/696 Airgizzmo Panel Dock: Will it Fit?

Has anyone tried to install an Airgizzmo panel dock for a Garmin GPSMAP 695/696? Airgizzmo's spec's says it takes an opening of 8 x 6.25".

My Avionics Tech doesn't think there is 8" of vertical height available in front of the co-pilot in any PA28.

Can anyone with first hand knowledge comment? Is there 8" of vertical space available on the right side? Thanks.
