Last Thursday I was scheduled to fly out to Massachusetts in a club plane to look at a Cherokee 140 I was sure was the one! Well, as it turned out, the winds that day were too much for me so my flight instructor offered to fly my wife and I out to look at it. Well, it wasn't all I had hoped for so I low balled the guy and he declined my offer.
When we returned to the airport (which I wasn't going to do if I flew myself), the office manager tells me that a guy that has a Comanche hangar'd there and just this morning told her that he was ready to sell after 35 years.
She introduced us and we hit it off. I'm now the owner of this beautiful Piper Comanche! Once it gets out of it's annual inspection and I get my complex endorsement for retractable landing gear and variable pitch prop, I'll actually get to fly it.
I can make it to Florida in about 6 hours and one stop for fuel. Absolutely the last plane we would ever have to buy.
