Ok I am looking some opinions on how some of you with kids have hauled your kids when they were infants. I have a 1968 Piper Cherokee 180 and am concerned about fitting a child seat in the back as I have to fly with seat in last or second to last stop from the back as I am 6' 4", my wife and I are expecting a child in late august and I plan to introduce then to aviation at young age if I can.

So I have a couple questions are there any smaller car seats that can be used during the infant stage than may fit in the back?

Is the issue with forward and rear facing the same as an automobile? I though the rear facing was required due to airbags but I might be wrong. I think a car seat would fit better if I can install it in the front facing position as long as the child is still safe.

Looking for some advice on what you guys may have done when your child was little.
