I've been flying conventional SIDs for years, but this afternoon was my first RNAV one (after I finally installed an IFR GPS last August/September).
The CYTZ BOMET7 departure wasn't all that complicated, but it wasn't trivial, either, involving a combination of nav to a waypoint, flying a fixed heading, and vectors to another waypoint, with altitude restrictions. My only concern was the buttonology, but the GTN 650 supported me well throughout in a simple and intuitive way. It's still absolutely necessary to have the plates open as well, of course.
