Hey folks - I have a 1967 Cherokee 140 with the Lycoming 0-320- E2A engine (160hp) with about 1950SMOH and 785STOH. Compressions are all over 74/80 at last annual with no metal in filter. It makes good power, hums right along but I'm beginning to think that a new engine is in order (at least I should start looking for one). I was wondering do I HAVE TO replace it with another -E2A? Could I use another 0-320 and swap out my chrome cylinders and keep the 160hp? I'm seeing some 0-320's on Barnstormers in the $15-18k range that are low to mid time and just think I need to start preparing for the change. It's just that most of them are NOT -E2A's and don't want to spend time shopping if I'm not looking for the right thing. Any advice would be appreciated.
