The #3 cylinder EGT “bars” on my Electronics International UBG-16 stopped working, though the actual temperature still showed up. EI said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. I went back through the wiring in a detailed manner and found some suspect connections in the insulated spade terminal connectors (why EI now recommends ILCs). But the issue appears to be that the actual probe, which appears to be inserted into a hardy metal case that is inserted into the exhaust downtube, has worked its way out of the probe metal case (for lack of a better description). I reinserted the probe all the way in and held it using the springlike stress relief fitting. Everything works fine on this cylinders EGT “bars” reading now, but the solution is not firm. I found that the #2 probe can be similarly moved in and out.

I suspect there is a crimp that has loosened up from the hot/cold environment at the exhaust downtube. Is there any solution to this problem other than buying new probes? Ie, a way to keep the probe where it’s supposed to be—fully inserted?

Sorry I don’t know the proper names for these parts? Hopefully people be able to figure out what I am talking about.
