Have had some difficulties starting my new-to-me 1963 Cherokee 180. I can get it to fire eventually but it takes a fair bit of coaxing, throttle pumping (only while cranking), etc.

I decided to investigate and found that the primer, while showing some resistance, didn't seem to be sucking up any fuel. I took the plunger out, and lubed the o-rings. A slight whiff of fuel when I pulled the plunger, but no liquid. Replaced, and now it's definitely pumping air, or nothing at all. Operates very smoothly, but doesn't actually do anything. I don't feel any fuel being sucked in.

I have a new o-ring kit on order, and I will try that first, but suspect it may be an issue with lines or valves. Any suggestions on where to (legally within the realm of owner maintenance) I should inspect/clean/lube/etc.?

The shops on the field cater more to the Citation crowd...going to work on finding a good local A&P in the next couple weeks for stuff like this.
