So I have a 74 PA28-151. 150hp with say 650 hours on it...

Today I cancelled a trip. Why my wife was in the right seat lol..
This trip I have no issue with going solo (@200lbs) and 34 gallons of fuel.

Situation
Wind 15kts, G20-25kts 0-20 degrees of rwy centerline
DA 5800-6000
Rwy length 3900, flat paved good shape
50 foot climb clears structures
150-200 lbs under gross weight.
DA chart at gross says 3500 foot ground roll and 50' at 4200 feet plus

I felt we did not have enough room for error. We would of been under gross but I am having a hard time figuring out how much every 100lbs less than gross it shortens my takeoff distance...

Question
1-Is there a good rules of thumb other than continued experimentation?
2-Would the 160HP STC Ram help?
3-Gap seal are not made for my ailerons just flap seals. So would flap seals help.

I really like my plane and the panel is good. But I am starting to look at C182 and C210's cause my mission will start to see 5000-10000 DA with a passenger more and more...
