Hey All,
Newbie to the site here. I have a '67 Cherokee 140 (160hp). I love this little bird! I've had it for just over 5 years now. I have a real world performance question. The engine has about 900 hours since major. We just did a top overhaul with brand new lycoming cylinders and a powerflow exhaust. So, I should be pushing close to or a little more than 180hp. I can certainly feel it on the takeoff roll. It has all three wheel pants and I always fly with the wheel pants on, of course. The only "speed mod" that I know of is the metco wing tips. The problem I'm having trouble with is air speed. I read documentation all over, but specifically from risingup.com that says the 140 should have a cruise speed of about 113kts. I cruise at 2550RPM and I typically see 120mph (105kts) indicated and in no wind i'll see about 105-108kts ground speed. Typically I fly 3500-5500. Of course the higher I fly the lower the indicated air speed.
My question is what indicated air speeds with similar RPM/altitude configuration are you seeing? I just feel like I should see higher airspeed and ground speed.
If anybody has any speed mods that they've really seen an improvement with, I'd sure be interested in knowing what you have.
Thanks all!
