Picked up the new to me Archer in Wisconsin last Thursday and on Saturday launched for the left coast. Again, special thanks to Kristin and EchoDelta for their concensus on a route, it was spot on. We decided to limit the length of the legs west and made it a point to quit before noon each day. DA of 9400 ft in Rawlins WY was a new experience for sure. A huge thunderstorm in Aberdeen ripped the doors off two hangars, luckily not mine. Thanks to very kind controllers and Flight Following we were kept comparatively safe. I felt bad requesting FF from Salt Lake City, the poor guy was non stop. Finally, after about 15 minutes of initial call up he just said unable at this time. Talk about a stressful job. Remained in Elko NV and extra day as winds aloft at 12k were 32kts. (thanks again Kristin for the tip) this gave us a day to explore Elko, Ruby Ridge, Lamoille, very beautiful indeed. The next day was perfect flying weather and we left for the last leg across the Sierras. It was an easy, very enjoyable flight. Much thanks to all of you who offered suggestions for consideration.
