I have a "simple" single-axis S-TEC 20 autopilot, which fits into my turn-coordinator hole. Just for fun, I thought I'd make a schematic of all the different ways my autopilot can get input. I discovered 9 different paths, based on the positions of different switches and mode selectors. Yikes! I knew all of them already, of course (I drew the schematic from memory), but had never enumerated all the routes: no wonder it takes time to learn this automation stuff.
