Hi,

i am rather a newbie pilot with 100Hrs. total of which about 50 PIC.

I did a couple of cross country flights with a ArrowTurbo and recently had a instruction flight with a normal arrow. Although we had quite a bit sidewind the instructor was quite satisfied and approved me fo the aircraft. After this training i did a short overland flight. When i returned i landed with with 10kts left wind gusts 15kt. Left wheel touched first, then right wheel. After the nose gear touched down the aircraft started turning more and more left leaving the (broad) runway with more than 60 degrees off from the landing direction - then it turned around the nosewheel and came to stand again nearly in the landing direction. No injury but right wheel was retracted and we found a bulge of about 1-2 Inch above it in the wing. Nose wheel bent and crooked.

I think, that i remember the main sequences of this landing. I had about 80kts in final. There was no such thing like a stall / falling down on wheels and i can not believe that i did nose wheel driving without being aware of it. Nobody of course believes me. I found traces from the tires on the runway that match my memory - but they are not enough for a prove.

Obviously the nose wheel had a damage and went out of control. It did not react to my drawing pushing the right pedal. But i can not find out, how this happened. This is the most discouraging thing. I would be more comfortable identifying my failure.

Has anyone made similar experiences?
Are there any known issues about the arrow gear (ok, i doubt this)?
Is it possible that all this was caused by a runway in bad condition (many potholes but all of these, that i saw seemed to be well repaired)?
How would you personally handle this?
I am of course quite confused.

Thanks for your participation
