My recently purchased Archer came equipped with a JPI engine monitor. After the return flight home from WI, I thought it would be wise to learn more about the instrument and what it could do. In reviewing the programmed limit settings I noticed the CHT temp limit was set at 450 degrees. From the folks I've talked to, all seem to think this is way to high. I reset it to 400 and now on climb out the JPI indicates warning status, showing CHT temps 410 - 425. My question is, on a Archer II with a low time engine (150 hrs) what kind of CHT temps should I expect during climb at full rich/throttle? Probably more important is where do I start looking to reduce the temps?
